Frailty in Liver and Lung Transplantation: The Past, Present, and Future with Jon Singer and Jennifer Lai

Department of Medicine Grand Rounds

Date:  -

Liver and lung transplantation are remarkable procedures that have saved hundreds of thousands of lives. While outcomes are influenced by the technical quality of the procedures, there are also complex patient factors that can impact survival. These factors may sometimes alter decisions about transplantation, and modifying them can sometimes make the difference between life and death.

In this medical grand rounds, Dr. Jen Lai, UCSF Pepper Center PESC Scholar Alumna, and Dr. Johnathan Singer will review the history and current status of transplantation, as well as future developments – with a particular focus on the role of patient frailty. We will learn about tools for assessing frailty in transplant patients and gain valuable insights for enhancing patient care in the transplant population and beyond.
